A PERFECT CLASSROOM
Introduction:
The students of grade 7 are having a break at school. They discuss what the teacher said in class about diversity, about the Italian inclusion video “Little Spot”.
Student 1
Guys, don't you think we're exaggerating with this story to accept diversity, make it a resource, to be kind with everybody. Yes, I agree, that's right! But it seems like an exaggeration!
Student 2 (
But look, in my opinion it's not. With “Little Spot”’s story we learned a lot of things, it made us understand many things! First of all we mustn’t have prejudices.
Student 3
Do you know what I'm telling you? I want to do something concrete. Why don't we surprise the teacher? During the next hour we can organize a flipped lesson on this topic, doing our best.
Student 4
Yes, it’s nice. She will be happy! What do you think, can we do it? How can we organize it?
Student 5
Let’s do some research, write a report then present everything to the teacher... We are great in the organization!
Pupil 6
We have no prejudices. We know how to support each other.
Student 7
Yes, certainly. So I would say to organize us in this way: do you remember the story we read last week in class? Let’s start from that story and create texts, poems or a song to express the values, integration and staying together in peace and love.
Pupil 8
Good, good! It must be a story that touches everyone's heart. It must be like the "Divine Comedy", UNIVERSAL. It must give good practices.
Pupil 9
Think about how happy the teacher will be! But let's stop talking now!
Let’s work hard!
The group starts working
Pupil 10
So, you prepare the report, you prepare a digital presentation, you write the story, you write a poem. Let’s make some groups.
Pupil 12
Can I be part of the poetry group. I like writing poems.
Student 13
Come on, you don't even know what a poem is!
Pupil 14
You will let us have a bad mark and then we can't participate in a competition and win!
Pupil 15
Please, come on, don’t do anything, it is better for us! We have to make a good impression on the teacher!
- The excluded student moves away and sits aside to write on his own
The groups work...very well but arrogance emerges...and then someone realizes that they are doing something wrong...
Student 16
Dear friends, I'm sorry, but we are really bad! We talked a lot about values, friendship, freedom, solidarity, acceptance of diversity... But we excluded a friend!
Student 17
It's true, we are really full of ourselves. We made one of our friends feel bad! I think we must change...Maybe he must organize the upside-down lesson or we should make him be part of us.
Student 19
Yes, we must help him, make him feel our solidarity, our support.
Student 21
For our arrogance we treated you as Little Spot, which was excluded from the group of shapes.
- Everyone in the group apologizes and hugs the excluded partner
- the teacher enters for the lesson..
Prof.
Guys, what's happening? What are you doing?
Student 22
Teacher, we understood that we are all friends...
